Jordan , Stephanie

(b Karachi, Pakistan, 21 Jan. 1951).

British dance writer. She studied music at the Universities of Birmingham, and California, Los Angeles and danced with various teachers, including Alston. She has lectured in music and dance studies at several colleges and universities, and was appointed Research Professor in Dance at the University of Surrey, Roehampton in 2000. She is author of numerous articles and books including Striding Out: Aspects of Contemporary and New Dance in Britain (1992) and Moving Music: Dialogues with Music in 20th Century Ballet (2000).
